Impact Gamers
Join BAFTA award-winning Impact Gamers and discover the world of game making in beginner-friendly sessions!
Are you a young gaming enthusiast 8-12yrs? Attend our sessions at different venues this year and embrace the opportunity to learn the exciting art of creating your own games.
Music Production
Attention young music makers!
Join us for a unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of the music industry. Under the guidance of a musical mentor from Fanfare Music, you will spend the time immersing yourself in the creative process.
From composing music based on a client brief to syncing music with videos and utilising production software to record a song, this program offers a comprehensive exploration of the music-making journey and much more!

Filmmaking
Hey future filmmakers and storytellers!
This Summer, from Monday 12th August to Friday 16th August, summer s’cool is offering twelve places to 14– 17yrs for an unmissable week-long creative filmmaking bootcamp at the fantastic CAPA College with experts Studio Bokehgo. Dive into the thrilling world of visual storytelling, master camera and video composition, and discover a range of filmmaking skills that will set you apart.
The work you produce will also be part of Wakefield's biggest event of Our Year, The Hatchling! Imagine learning the craft of filmmaking while capturing the magic of the run up to this spectacular celebration.
Podcasting
Know a young person who loves telling stories or making people laugh?
In this programme, delivered by Storytrails, children will be empowered to let their voices be heard!
They’ll learn the basics of storytelling, scriptwriting, audio production, and voice acting - creating an entire podcast episode from start to finish.

Digital Explorers
Make a movie, create a comic, design a game and much more!
Create and learn with professional teaching artists, Rob Young and Anna Spratt. Develop exciting new skills along the way, while celebrating wonderful things about where you live.
This workshop is recommended for children 8-12yrs.
summer s’cool is devised and managed by a dedicated project team at Wakefield Council, supported by staff and volunteers at local community centres.
The programme is funded by the DCMS Cultural Development Fund managed by Arts Council England and delivered by Wakefield Council.
